What We Leave Out: The 10-Free Standard

At Mulberry, what we exclude from our studio is just as important as what we include. When we say our polishes are "10-Free," it means they are intentionally formulated without the harsh, toxic chemicals traditionally used in nail care. We guarantee that you will never be exposed to the following ten ingredients:

  • A harsh chemical traditionally used as a nail hardener and preservative.

  • A liquid solvent used to give polish a smooth finish, known to cause strong, lingering fumes that disrupt a serene environment.

  • A plasticizer used to prevent polish from chipping, which has been flagged for its potential to disrupt natural hormone functions.

  • A synthetic polymer derived from formaldehyde, used to add depth and gloss, but known to cause skin irritation and allergic reactions.

  • Used to give traditional polish its glossy, plastic-like appearance, but often responsible for the sharp, pungent odor in conventional salons.

  • A plasticizer used to increase durability and dry time, banned in European cosmetics due to its chemical profile.

  • A solvent used to keep polish from getting goopy, known for its strong, headache-inducing fumes.

  • A family of synthetic preservatives used to extend shelf life, frequently avoided in modern, health-conscious beauty and skincare.

  • (TPHP) Added to traditional polishes for flexibility, this chemical is linked to changes in normal hormone function and reproductive health.

  • Our 10-free commitment also ensures our polishes are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, honoring our holistic approach to conscious consumption.
